Bed and Breakfast in the heart of the Southern Berkshires
Wilder House is a five-room bed and breakfast set inside a lovingly restored 1802 federal-style farmhouse in Sheffield, Massachusetts — the southern gateway to the Berkshires. We've kept every original beam and wide-plank floor, and added the modern touches that matter: fast WiFi, private en-suite bathrooms, 24-hour touchless check-in, and on-site EV charging. Come for a weekend, stay for the feeling.
Let Wilder House be your home base for experiencing the food, arts, and nature that make the Southern Berkshires a renowned New England travel destination. Just 10 minutes from Great Barrington, the Berkshire School, Twin Lakes Connecticut, the Appalachian Trail, and epic waterfalls, our guests enjoy beautiful accommodations in a walkable village setting.

ABOUT US
Wilder House was built in 1802 and has been home to more than 30 families across its 220-year history. In 2023, Brad Sanzenbacher and Jamee Herbert moved from Northern California to Sheffield and fell in love with this old farmhouse — and with the Berkshires community that surrounds it.
We bring the house to life today in the style of a vintage 1940s farmhouse, with rich colors, whimsical art, and cozy common areas to connect, create, and relax.
We're proud to be among the few family-owned inns that remain in the southern Berkshires, and hope you'll fall in love with our old house as we have.
